White Hat SEO
Search Engine Marketing is like anything else on the web: if you really want to subvert the tried and true way of doing things, you can. There are plenty of resources that will make you pop up in search engine rankings quickly and without fault. Breaking "the rules" in this way is called "Black Hat."But it is the dark side. Think Darth Vader.
Google (the Force), in particular, is especially adept at scoping out the "tricks of the trade," and regularly pops ("Google Slaps") different methods by dropping rankings of some web sites, sometimes permanently.
I practice "best practices" SEO, or White Hat SEO (think Luke Skywalker, but in "Return of the Jedi," not the whiny "A New Hope" Luke).
